Carlos Morgado joined Lilium in May 2019 as SVP Digital Technology after seven highly successful years with Just Eat as CTO, the unicorn food ordering and delivery service which successfully IPO’d on the LSE in 2014. Carlos built the technology function at Just Eat to a peak of 800 engineers. He holds a Ph.D in High Energy Particle Physics from the University of Bristol.
Lilium enables you to travel 5 times faster than a car by introducing the world’s first all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jet. Its mission is to make air taxis available to everyone and as affordable as riding a car, while preserving the environment and working towards a sustainable future. Able to fly distances of up to 300km at a speed of 300km/h and operate without need for runways or airports, it is the technology that will change travel forever. The business is backed by leading global investors Atomico and Tencent and has a stellar Board. Lilium has raised $101m to date.
Jonathan Howell is widely recognised as one of the foremost CTOs in the European digital and ecommerce scene and has played a key role in building out the engineering functions at both Huddle and Made.com. He joins Alex Chesterman and the newly created leadership team at Cazoo as they look to transform the £50bn used car market.
Having raised over £55m in funding, making it one of Europe’s best-funded start-ups, Cazoo is planning to launch by the end of 2019. It aims to make buying a used car no different than buying any other product online today by letting consumers select from thousands of cars, have them delivered to their door, and offering a risk-free returns policy.

Brendan Bank was appointed Chief Technology Officer for MessageBird in early 2019. In his role, Bank is responsible for scaling the team and driving platform development on behalf of MessageBird’s global customer base. Prior to MessageBird, Bank architected the technology roadmap at global travel leader Booking.com as Chief Technology Officer, where he led growth and development of the engineering and technical teams. During his nine-year tenure at Booking, Bank managed 32x growth in the technical teams that supported 50x growth in daily customer transactions.
Over 15,000 global customers rely on MessageBird to solve their communication challenges by routing important messages and calls on their behalf. Its SMS, Chat, and Voice APIs continue to revolutionize company-customer interactions, making contact easier, more efficient, and more accessible than ever before.
In January 2019 Joe Petersson joined Edge Processing DMP Permutive as VPE. He joined from Quantum Black, the McKinsey owned machine learning and AI business. He moved across to QB from his Associate Partner role at McKinsey.
Prior to McKinsey Joe was an Engineering Director at Microsoft, Engineering Lead at Skype and cut his teeth in engineering at Mozilla.
Permutive is a next generation data platform for edge processing. The first application of their platform has been within the world of publishing, where they've built the world's first real-time data management platform. They are backed by some of the best investors and entrepreneurs in the world, including Y Combinator, EQT Ventures and Octopus Ventures, whose previous investments include Airbnb, Dropbox, SwiftKey and Zoopla.
Abdul Hummaida joins Concentra as CTO having established a strong reputation for building and leading outstanding engineering teams in the SaaS marketplace. He joins Concentra at a key time following investment from PE firm One Peak. With a first-class degree in Computer Science from Manchester University, Abdul has carved out a successful technology leadership career via IBM and Appsense and will play a critical role in establishing an outstanding engineering culture and capability to support Concentra’s global expansion.
Concentra Analytics is a fast-growth SaaS company with award-winning software products that enable businesses to capture, manage, and analyse data to improve their operations and execute strategies more effectively.
James Kellerman has been appointed CTO at Forward, joining the business at a key time as it extends its reach into the UK healthcare sector. James is tasked with aligning the technology roadmap to the business strategy, working with a focused leadership team to turn Forward into the “Slack for healthcare”. James was previously VP Engineering at Healthtech company Touch Surgery having worked for a range of disruptive early stage businesses in the US.
Forward is backed by some of the investment team behind Zoopla, Pillpack and Deliveroo. Forward empowers healthcare professionals to communicate and collaborate effectively, resulting in frontline staff spending more time with patients and ultimately driving greater work satisfaction.
Ade Taylor has recently been appointed as CTO at cyber security services business ITC Secure in London following the acquisition by C5 Capital. He is tasked with leading product strategy and innovation, aligning closely with client needs across an increasingly international customer base. He was previously CTO at SecureLink, a managed services business trading in 30+ countries, and prior to this has worked with Juniper Networks and Dimension Data.
ITC Secure provides cyber threat advisory and managed security services that help organisations identify, understand and control their security risks. Specialising in cyber security, they provide clients with Information Security Management to keep their data safe.
Alex Bailes has been appointed as the first CTO for the newly created Brockton Everlast business. He will be tasked with building a technology platform that will support the continued growth and success of the new business. Previously he led digital transformation at CBRE for two years and has played an advisory role on several Proptech start-ups as well as working with largescale property businesses including Countrywide.
Brockton Everlast is a real estate investment company formed in 2018, focusing on the purchase, improvement, construction, management, and maintenance of commercial rental properties in the UK. Since its inception, it has acquired four office buildings in central locations in London with a total investment of £415 million.
