GoCardless appoints Jim Anning as Director of Data

Renaissance Leadership is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Anning as Director of Data at GoCardless, the leading online payments solutions company. Jim is tasked with building a team of data scientists & analysts to take data from £4 billion worth of transactions for over 30,000 organisations across the UK and Europe, his new function will build the data-heavy products that will underpin GoCardless’s rapid growth plans.

Jim joins GoCardless from British Gas Connected Homes where he held the title of Head of Data and Analytics. His team managed all aspects of data from Connected Homes’ products including Hive Active Heating and MyEnergy, analysing it to help improve services and developing machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to give customers the best experience from connected products.

Originally an electronics engineer, Jim has held a variety of technology and leadership roles in the BBC, the Oil & Gas, Education and Utilities industries.

As one of Europe’s leading Fintech start-ups, GoCardless is rapidly creating a new international payments network to rival credit and debit cards. It is breaking down barriers so businesses can quickly and easily take payments from anyone, anywhere in the world. Their API powers recurring payments for companies like the Guardian, Thomas Cook and the UK Government, and also enables partners such as Xero and Sage to help tens of thousands of small businesses to save countless hours spent chasing customers for payments. The business has recently launched its international operations in France and Germany, and has just raised another substantial funding round of $25M million led by Notion Capital.
